With the success of season one of the first TV show to teach ancient Egyptian language and Hieroglyphics, which debuted Thursday July 7 on Egyptian channel 1, Hoda Abel Aziz started filming the second season of the show. “Our Old Language”, presented by Hoda Abdel Aziz, aims to introduce in a simple way to the viewers the principles of the ancient Egyptian language and the hieroglyphic inscriptions engraved on the walls of temples and museums.

Abdel Aziz, who is also the writer and editor of the show, grabbed the opportunity to create the show when she was approached by Dr. Amira Matar, the chief director of the Nile Cultural Channels. “I believe the show is a stepping stone for Egyptians to delve into the ancient world of their ancestors, preserve the Egyptian identity and respond to misconceptions about the origin of ancient Egyptian civilization,” said Abdel Aziz to WoEgypt.

Produced by United Company, the weekly show took a whole year to produce and it runs for 13 episodes; broadcast on Egyptian Channel One on Thursday with a rerun on DMC on Friday. The show is also subtitled in English to reach a wider audience.

Born in Cairo in 1985, Hoda Abdel Aziz works as an educational curricula consultant, specializing in teaching ancient Egyptian civilization and arts.

A contemporary artist and teacher, Abdel Aziz has been working in the field of education for 15 years. She holds an international teacher certificates from Acacia University, USA. She also received a master’s degree in teaching arts and advanced teaching methods from the University of Florida.

She received several awards; the Key of Sharm El-Sheikh, the Saudi artist Fahd Al-Hujailani Award and La Rochelle International Exhibition Award from France.

For her knowledge and expertise in education, art and Egyptology, she has been contacted by many international schools to teach civilization and arts in different ways that depend on theoretical and field study through visiting the museum, and tourist trips to museums and archaeological areas.

She teaches the history of Egyptian art from the beginning of the dynasties to modern art. Her curriculum includes art, architecture, ancient Egyptian literature, the principles of the sacred language, hieroglyphic script, and an in-depth study of the temples and museums in Egypt.

“I created an in-depth curriculum for students to understand and indulge more into the history of ancient Egyptian art,” said Abdel Aziz. “And because the history of Egyptian art is now taught in schools for the first time, l prepared curricula using educational models specifically designed for this subject.
