Egyptian tennis player Mayar Sherif won the Valencia Open 2023 title on Sunday evening against Spanish champion Marina Bassols Ribera.

Sherif, beat Chilean Daniela Seguel, Argentinian Maria Lourdes Carle, American Ann Li and Argentinian Nadia Podoroska, ahead of her victory.

With this win, Mayar advances in the WTA rankings to 31, the best in Egypt’s tennis history. “A new milestone unlocked. So happy to win another title here in Valencia! Thank you my team, my family, my sponsors and my fans for all the support I got in the past two weeks,” Mayar wrote on FB.

On June 11, she had also won the WTA Makarska 2023 title in Croatia.
