Yasmina Eissa & Jayci Simon won the gold medal in women doubles at Canada Para-Badminton International 2023. The championship was held in Ottawa between June 14 – 18, 2023.

Para-Badminton is Egypt’s and Africa’s Para-Badminton Champion. Ever since she was a child she has had a genuine passion for sports. One sport was never enough, she was always looking to try new sports. Yasmina played tennis, swimming, gymnastics, ice hockey, baseball, softball, basketball, handball, and badminton.

After years of playing tennis, Yasmina found that badminton was the sport for her. She first discovered badminton in school, where she found herself talented. Later on, after finding out that badminton was in her club, she joined Hadia Hosny’s Badminton Academy. After months of playing badminton as a hobby, Hadia Hosny told Yasmina about Para-Badminton. Yasmina had never heard of Para-sports, and all her life was playing able-bodied sports.

Hadia explained to her that this would be the only championship were people with no ranking would be allowed to participate, and viewed this as a great opportunity. At the World Championships Yasmina won fifth place after losing to the World Number 1 in a very close match. Yasmina fell in love with Para-Badminton and decided to continue on playing.

Four months after the Championships, she played in the Spanish International where she won third place. Two months later she received her first gold in the African Championships. Since then she has been wining more and more medals.

In April 2023, Yasmina Eissa won her first gold medal in women doubles Para-badminton with Jayci Simon in Brazil.
