Reem Kassem | On the Move in Tunisia

The second annual Cultural Mobility Forum in Tunisia, set to take place on May 9-10, 2023, has announced its program and speakers. The forum is part of On the Move’s multi-annual program co-funded by the European Union. This year, the forum will focus on international cultural mobility and environmental sustainability.

Reem Kassem (Egypt, UAE), Head of Performing Arts at the Cultural Foundation in UAE, and Co-founder of Basita.Live has been invited to attend the forum, among delegates and speakers from Tunisia, Morocco, Lebanon, South Africa, Burkina Faso, United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia, Sweden, Belgium and the UK. 

Reem will be moderating a panel discussion on May 9th at El Teatro, Chedli Kallela in Tunis titled, “Towards More Ecological Artistic Production and Distribution. Reem will have an open discussion with panelists, Tunisian dance artist and artistic director Selim Ben Safia; and South African curator and artistic director, Ukhona Ntsali Mlandu.

The forum will also include panel discussions on sustainable local strategies and cultural impacts; and Sustainable transcontinental cultural relations and South-South mobility. In addition, attendees will get a chance to network and share knowledge.

Founded in 2002, On the Move is a cultural mobility information network based in Europe. It provides its target audience with clear, up-to-date and free to use information on cultural mobility. It also allows artists to collectively investigate international artistic and cultural mobility trends. In addition, it provides resources to artists and cultural professionals from around the world who are looking for opportunities to work, train, or exchange across borders.

The Cultural Mobility Forum 2023 is hosted by the Culture Funding Watch and live streamed by HowlRound and Basita.Live. It is supported by the Delegation of the European Union to Tunisia.
