Film Seeds | Filmmaking for Children in Fragile Communities

With the support of the American Embassy in Cairo and administrated by AMIDEAST, the “Film Seeds Project” hosted its final two filmmaking workshops in the fragile communities of Al-Qursaya Island and Ezbet Khairallah. 

Film Seeds Project aims to empower the children of families working in social-impact-driven entities operating in Egypt. The project reaches the children in fragile communities and develops the surroundings that influences them by engaging them in filmmaking.

The project provided the children with a unique opportunity to participate in the making of films that raise awareness about the environment and climate change. These films will be featured during the closing ceremony, in addition to a play. 

Created by Randa Aboul Dahab , the initiative targets children in fragile communities, between the ages of12-15 years old. It provides them with provide them with opportunities to participate in the making of films to enhance their artistic experiences and raise their awareness about the environment.

Twenty four children participated in the two filmmaking workshops that took place on the the island of Qursaya And Ezbet Khairallah. The children learned to shoot, editing, and write screenplays, in addition to creative thinking and storytelling.
