Yasmine Hassan’s journey from pharmacy and biotechnology graduate to a global leader in patient affairs, underscores her lifelong commitment to saving lives. She graduated from the German University in Cairo in 2014, where her commitment to patient advocacy emerged. Actively volunteering with non-profit organizations at both national and international levels, she focused on elevating disease awareness and providing support to patients.

Her commitment reached its peak when she spearheaded a campaign that broke the Guinness World Record for random blood sugar testing in Egypt in 2013, highlighting her commitment to volunteerism. This accomplishment laid the foundation for Yasmine’s acknowledgment, recognizing her unwavering support within patient communities and significant contributions to improving their quality of life.

Venturing to Canada to advance her career, Yasmine worked with multinational companies like McKesson and Rexall, emphasizing patient support and specialty pharmacy. Upon her return to Egypt, she applied her patient-centric methodology at Vezeeta E-pharmacy, playing a pivotal role in launching one of Egypt’s first e-pharmacy businesses tailored for individual patient support.

Throughout her career, Yasmine held leadership roles in patient centricity and advocacy. As the inaugural Patient Centricity Manager at Astrazeneca Egypt, she established the function’s initial model, empowering patients’ voices and fostering advocacy partnerships. Yasmine played a vital role in creating and evolving patient advocacy groups, serving as key partners in enhancing the healthcare pathway. Managing a team of Patient Navigators, she provided tailored awareness, screening, and education to millions of patients and oversaw digital health initiatives.

Additionally, Yasmine cascaded a patient-centricity strategy across the Middle East and Africa, leading a task force across clusters. She developed the role of patient advocacy, underscoring its crucial role in healthcare by prioritizing patients’ rights and concerns. Working closely with Advocates, she aimed to improve healthcare policies, addressing issues such as accessibility, affordability, and quality of care through collaborative partnerships, shaping healthcare systems, promoting patient-centered approaches, and achieving better outcomes.

Yasmine’s passion and dedication led her to her current position as Global Oncology  Patient advocacy and Policy  at AstraZeneca, based in Washington DC USA. Her influence extends globally, where she disseminates patient-centric strategies, fostering advocacy, policy, and shared decision-making, contributing to the development of a sustainable healthcare pathway.

Despite her youth, Yasmine’s role as a global leader in patient advocacy and policy reflects her unwavering dedication to supporting and empowering millions of lives worldwide.  This marks a remarkable journey from a passionate graduate to a transformative figure in global healthcare.
