Spotify had selected Egyptian singer Carmen Soliman as its EQUAL Arabia Ambassador for May 2023. Carmen Soliman was featured in a New York’s Times Square billboard. Carmen Soliman is among the most famous Arab artists in North Africa and the Middle East. The platform aims to highlight the work of female creators and grant them more opportunities for fame and work.
The women in music program, launched in the MENA region on March 2022, aims to showcase and support the incredible work of Arab women artists by providing continuous on and off-platform support, amplifying their voices, and sharing their music with audiences worldwide.
Born in 1994, Carmen Soliman showcased her singing prowess at an early age. Soliman’s popularity soared after she won the first Arab Idol in 2012. It landed her a recording contract with Platinum Records. Her first single, “Kalam Kalam” released in 2013 topped the Egyptian charts. She provided the singing voice of Disney’s Moana in the Arabic dub.
She released many hit songs that garnered millions of views on YouTube and Spotify. Carmen Soliman also received an award of “Best Young Voice” from the Egyptian Supreme Council of Culture.
As a testament to her remarkable contributions to the Egyptian music industry, Spotify has spotlighted Carmen by featuring her on a billboard in the iconic Times Square, New York City.
