Sally ElGindy’s story is one of growth, determination, and redefining what leadership looks like in international education. She began her career with a belief that hard work alone could drive success. Over time, she discovered something even more powerful: success is built through people , their trust, their voice, and their belief in the shared mission.

Today, Sally serves as the Operations & Human Resources Director at the American International School in Egypt, being a key member in a community of more than 2,000 students and 550 employees. She oversees large-scale operations, strategic HR, and budgeting, impacting lives and shaping the learning environment of one of the country’s leading international schools. One of her proudest achievements is administratively leading the move of a brand-new 50,000 sqm school campus, transforming a vision into a fully functioning academic environment that is now alive with students, teachers, and learning.

But one of Sally’s most defining leadership breakthroughs came much earlier.
As a young leader, she was tasked with restructuring an entire school operation. The plan was strong, but resistance grew, people felt decisions were being made about them, not with them. It could have been a setback, but instead, it became a turning point.
Sally created a collaborative initiative that invited every stakeholder, teachers, staff, and parents,to be part of the change. What began as resistance evolved into collective ownership. The project succeeded not because of authority, but because of inclusion.

From that moment on, Sally built her leadership philosophy around one principle: “When you lead people with you, not ahead of them, transformation becomes unstoppable.”

Her career spans Egypt and Qatar leading multicultural teams of 75 nationalities, being part of accreditation cycles, elevating operational systems, and mentoring future leaders. She has represented her school at global conferences including WISE – World Innovation Summit for Education and How Women Work, constantly learning and inspiring others.

Sally holds a Master’s degree in Governance, alongside certifications in Human Resources Management, Board Governance (FRA), Cognitive Coaching, and Positive Discipline and continues to invest in her growth because she believes leaders are lifelong learners.

Her goal is to continue shaping schools that are not only operationally strong, but also emotionally intelligent; places where people feel valued, seen, and supported.

Sally believes that leadership is not defined by authority, but by impact.
And her impact is clear: she builds systems, develops people, and transforms organizations by leading with heart.
