Rula Zaki: The Magical Voice of the Egyptian Version of Disney’s Movies

Rula Zaki, the enchanting voice that has breathed life into beloved Disney characters like Cinderella, the Little Mermaid, and Queen Iduna in the Egyptian versions of Disney’s classics, is much more than a mere singer.

Hailing from Egypt, she has risen to prominence as one of the nation’s foremost female vocalists, leaving audiences captivated by her angelic melodies, sung fluently in 14 different languages.

Her journey from a gifted child to a celebrated artist is nothing short of remarkable, with accolades, awards, and international recognition adorning her path.

Rula embarked on her singing journey at the age of 9 when her mother, recognizing her talent, arranged for her to receive professional training under the tutelage of the renowned opera singer, Dr. Raouf Zidan, who wholeheartedly embraced Rula’s exceptional gift.

By the time she turned 12, Rula attended the Crane Youth Music School in New York, USA, where her exceptional vocal prowess earned her the coveted title of “Most Outstanding Vocalist.”

Rula performed in many musicals and events during her school life at the Cairo American College where she starred in the musical “My Fair Lady” which was a great success and received high acclaims. She was the youngest soprano soloist at the Cairo Opera House and the Cairo Choral Society.

Upon her graduation from Cairo American College, she was honored with an acting award. Her extraordinary talent paved the way for her to secure seven scholarships from prestigious music schools across the United States. Rula pursued her passion by enrolling in the Conservatory of Music at Lawrence University in Wisconsin, USA, where she ultimately earned her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance.

Rula’s multifaceted talents extend beyond singing. She holds credentials as a Kindermusik Licensed Educator and a Certified Early Childhood Music Specialist. The mother of two remarkably balanced her family and singing career with a role as an Elementary Music teacher at Cairo American College and the British International School in Cairo. Currently she is providing singing workshops to children.

Rula’s remarkable talent has garnered national and international recognition, with awards spanning Egypt, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Austria. Her participation in prestigious choirs, such as the London Honor Choir and Vienna Honor Choir, culminated in her achieving a perfect score of 25/25. She also received a Certificate of Merit from the Royal Academy of Music in London and an Arion Award for Vocal Music. In addition, she won first place at the 2000 Annual International Song Festival in Cairo

Yet, many don’t know that Rula was chosen by Disney, USA to lend her voice to iconic characters like Cinderella and the Little Mermaid in in Disney’s Egyptian versions of the movies and episodes, including Queen Iduna (Frozen 2), Barbie (Toy Story).

Rula’s ability to spread love and peace through her music led to her being named the “Voice of Love and Peace.” when she was chosen to perform the opening song at the World Youth Theater in Sharm El Sheikh, which took place during the World Youth Forum in 2019.

Her album “Zekrayati” was number 1 best seller at Virgin Megastores for 6 weeks and her second album “Ha3eesh” was also a best seller for 2 weeks. Rula’s song “Albi Da2” was on top of the FM chart for 6 weeks.
