Based on several studies, the reasons for the high rates of divorces in Egypt have been identified as (not in any order):

1- Families’ interference 
2- Drug and alcohol addiction
3- Social and financial incompetence
4- Irresponsible husbands
5- Domestic violence 

According to the Egyptian Information Center Poll, 240 divorces are recorded in Egypt per day. A high percentage of these divorces takes place during the first year of marriage. According to the same poll, the number of divorced women have increased from 7% to 40% in the last fifty years. 

The number of divorced women in Egypt is 2.5 million; with an annual increase of 5K.
