Aya Ezz Wins 5 Medals at CMAS Masters Finswimming World Championship 2023 in Cairo

Egyptian swimmer Aya Ezz won 3 silver medals and 2 bronze medals at the CMAS Masters Finswimming World Championship 2023 which was held in Cairo on June 25th and 26th. Finswimming is a form of underwater swimming using fins and a monofin, and athletes compete in various distances and disciplines.

Ezz is member of the Egyptian Swimming National Team, Masters Category. She won 8 Gold Medals in Tunisia in 2019. She has been ranked amongst the best 10 swimmers worldwide in 2021. She started swimming at the age of 8, with her father motivating and and supporting her every step of the way until she joined the junior national team at the age of 12.

She represented Egypt in the Common Wealth Championship in 2000, where she won 4th place in the 100m breastroke, and 5th place in the 200m breaststroke. Ezz also participated in the Arab Championship that was held in Jordan in 2000, where she won 2nd place in the 100/200 BR. She also won several medals and cups in international championships in Darmstadt, Sindelfingen, Berlin, and Luxembourg.

After eleven years hiatus, she returned back to swimming in 2017. Her goal then was to lose weight and to participate in the triathlon competitions. However, her coach suggested to her to participate in the masters competitions as well.

Today, Aya is one of the finest swimmers in the Master’s Category, She participated in Tunisia open championship 2019 and she won 8 gold medals. In 2021, she won 2 silver medals and one bronze medal in Bulgaria.

In addition to her full time job as an English teacher, she also trains four days a week for four hours, divided between fitness and swimming. Ezz sets herself as a role model to motivate for both students and their moms, and encourages them to exercise regularly to stay fit and healthy.
