Winners of of Al-Azhar’s Women Empowering Cartoon and Portrait Competition Announced | With Photos

The Education Development Centre for Al-Azhar International Students announced the winners of Al-Azhar’s second edition of the Cartoon and Portrait Competition. The competition was held under the theme of Empowering Women.

Dr. Nahla El-Saeedi, Advisor to the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar for International Students and Head of the Education Development Center for Al-Azhar International Students, noted that 287 artists from 46 countries submitted 458 works, comprising 307 in the cartoon section and 151 in the portrait section.

The judging panel featured international artists, including Vladimir Kazanovsky from Ukraine and Abdelaziz Taj El-Din from Egypt for the cartoon section, and Jose Omar Bengali Zivallos Villardelos from Peru and Mohamed Sharef Ali from Egypt for the portrait section.

The Cartoon Competition winners are as follows:

First Place: Arturo Rosas from Mexico

Second Place: Adriana Mosquera Soto from Spain

Third Place: Si Rajendrakumar from India

Encouragement Awards for Cartoon Competition were given to:

Alexey Kivokurtsev from Russia

Ehsan Ganji from Iran

Daniel Zordan from Italy

The Portrait Competition Winners Are as Follows:

First Place: Ali Reza from Iran

Second Place: Ahmed Mohamed Wahid from Egypt

Third Place: Marwa Ibrahim Abdel Wahab Salama from Egypt

Encouragement Awards for Portrait Competition were given to:

Islam Mohamed Zaki from Egypt

Ahmed Saber Abdel Zaher from Egypt

Khedr Hassan from Egypt

The competition’s aim is to promote women’s rights and empowerment through art, emphasizing women’s achievements; and focusing on portraying notable female figures in history like Samira Moussa, Huda Shaarawi, May Ziadeh, and Nazik al-Mala’ika.
