Egyptian Canadian Dahlia Mostafa Receives the Prestigious Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers

On April 17, 2018, in celebration of National Volunteer Weekin Canada, Dr. Dahlia Mostafa received the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers.  She was awarded the medal by Her Excellency the Right Honorable Julie Payette, Governor General of CanadaGovernor General of Canada and Representative of Her Majesty The Queen.

19554466_1946066585637907_3857527600743648738_nThe Canadian National Volunteer Week was born in 1943 to celebrate the contributions made by women on the home front to the war effort. Mostafa, along with 42 other volunteers from across Canada were honored for their exceptional achievements in a wide range of volunteering fields.

In the ceremony held at Rideau Hall, Ottawa, and attended by Moataz Zahran, the Egyptian Ambassador in Canada, Governor Payette described Mostafa as an Influential Leader in the Arab, Muslim, and Canadian Communities. Mostafa is the first Egyptian and Arab to receive this medal. “This award in particular is very near and dear to my heart as it recognizes my legacy in planting seeds of good deeds across the globe,” Mostafa said in her acceptance speech.

She received this medal in recognition of her pioneering role and positive impact in serving the community through her volunteering work. As a psychologist,life coach and her commitment to lead and inspire, she serves many charities in Calgary. She also plays a significant role in helping new immigrants settle and integrate into society.

Dahlia is the President and CEO of CLICK Coaching & Counselling Inc. She is also the founder and CEO of Life Transformation Academy, a Canadian educational institution and social organization that focuses on on social, family, youth and professional affairs and works to solve personal problems, empower women, leadership and self-development.

Her Volunteerism started in Egypt throughout her schooling years at Notre Dame De Sion, and carried over during her university years in Egypt, Canada and USA., Dahlia holds a Bachelor and Master Degrees in Electrical Engineering. During her career, she has received over 46 international awards, among which are the Canadian Immigrants of Distinction Award in Community Service and the Top 25 Canadian Immigrants Award.

Recently, Dalia established an awards program, the Arab Women Award in North America. The award aims to celebrate the achievements, strengths, and successes, to change the Western society’s perception of Arab women.

Dalia Mostafa is a Professional Certified Coach, Counsellor and Leadership Consultant with 15 years of experience and a PhD fellow in leadership, policy and change with a focus on counselling psychology
