Carelle Homsy was born in Cairo in 1968. She graduated from the Faculty of Arts Education, Helwan University in 1991, and a year later she had her first solo exhibition at the Cairo Atelier. Since then, she had many solo and collective exhibitions in Egypt and abroad. Her last solo exhibition was in London in February 2016.
She also represented Egypt in 2009 to in the 2nd Luxor International Painting Symposium.
Many of her paintings were sold to private collectors around the world, and several of her pieces are displayed at the Egyptian Museum of Modern Contemporary Art.
The donkey (showed above) was part of an international collective exhibition organized by The Caravan of Art, and was sold in a Sotheby’s auction.
Currently her painting Liberté Egypte, painted in 2009, is showing on a big screen in Saatchi gallery and museum in London.
Her work is characterized by the expressionism and Fauvism aspects, which the Artist always resorts to when expressing her inner feelings. Also her works tackles the issue of humanity and society the old conflicts between good and evil, human rights and social justice. Hence the painting became and illustration of the personal and intellectual experiences; it is also a mixture of elements and strong colors and lines vibrations which gives an impression of continuous movement.
